Asia-Pacific Investing Heavily in Airport Infrastructure

Global airport construction project pipeline amounts to US$722 billion, with Asia-Pacific accounting for 40% of the total.


Timetric’s Construction Intelligence Center is currently tracking airports construction projects globally with a total value of US$721.7 billion. This pipeline comprises projects from the announced to execution stages. The Asia-Pacific region has the highest-value project pipeline, at US$291.2 1 billion, equivalent to 40% of the total global value of airport projects.


This is in line with projections for global air travel. According to the Airport Council International (ACI), global passenger air traffic is set to double to 14 billion by 2029, with Asia-Pacific to increase its share of passengers from 34% in 2015 to 47% by 2040. North America and Europe are both expected to lose market share in terms of global passenger traffic, as the emerging regions increase their shares
